England's final Test of an extraordinary, shortened summer in England sees them take on Pakistan for the third time. England carries a 1-0 lead into the third Test at Southampton's Ageas Bowl, after a virtually washed-out second test.
In the first Test, England overturned a 107-run deficit to claim a stunning three-wicket win at the halfway point. Chris Woakes and Jos Buttler fought to victory for England. Meanwhile, Stuart Broad was once again in excellent bowling form, and that continued as he last took out 4-56. James Anderson came back with three wickets to form too. In response to Pakistan's 236, England were 110/4 when the second Test was curtailed.
Shan Masood hit 156 in the first Test for Pakistan, but they lost at the halfway point despite their big lead, and Yasir Shah took eight wickets over the Test. Last time out, Mohammad Rizwan prevented a batting collapse, and their pace attack caught the eye in favourable conditions. Still, if they are to win this third and final Test, Pakistan needs consistency and more luck with the weather.
There is a rain forecast to be played on three of the five days of this Test match. Intense showers over the last two days are forecast.
Batting will be somewhat difficult in the first innings with the ball bouncing around. Initially on this pitch Batsmen have to be very careful on this line.
