The ODI matches will be staged from 11th - 16th July in Malahide, with the same venue being used for the opening match of the T20 series, which runs from 20th - 25th July, before the fixtures switch to Stormont for the final two matches.

Graeme Smith, South Africa's director of cricket said in a press release that they are extremely delighted to have finalised the dates as quickly as they have and for that they would like to thank Cricket Ireland for their willingness and cooperation to adapt the tour schedule as they continue to finalise their winter programme.

He added that the tour marks a significant new chapter in South Africa’s history as they visit one of the fast-developing cricket nations.

In all 5 previous ODI clashes, including at the Cricket World Cups in 2007, 2011 and 2015, South Africa defeated Ireland. The two countries have never faced each other in the T20 format.
