On Sunday, the BCCI decided to raise the hosting fee from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh for the 6 state associations staging the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, in addition to hiking the players' match fee from Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000.
The T20 event that commenced on Sunday marked the start of the domestic season in India, which was postponed by months due to the pandemic of COVID-19.
The tournament is played in 6 cities and in a bio-secure bubble, which boosts the host association's costs. Jay Shah, BCCI Secretary wrote to the 6 hosting associations that after receiving the feedback from the six staging associations at the recently held Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Ahmedabad and the subsequent discussions with BCCI’s colleagues, he is pleased to announce an increase in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament 2020-21 season’s hosting fee from the existing INR 250,000 to INR 350,000.
He added that in addition, the participation fee payable to all the participating sides will be increased from INR 50,000 to INR 75,000.
