Cricket Australia: David Warner and Sean Abbott rule out of 2nd Test against India due to bio-secure protocols

David Warner, Australia opener ruled out from the 2nd Test of the four-match series against India starting on 26th December in Melbourne due to a yet-to-heal groin injury and the strict bio-secure protocols of Cricket Australia (CA). David Warner, who recovered well after missing a few ODI matches and the 1st Test match against India, but CA announced that the left-hander would not participate in the Boxing Day Test.

Besides that, with a calf injury that the all-rounder Sean Abbott sustained during the warm-up match against India in the lead-up to the Test series, he was also ruled out of the second Test.

Following a Covid-19 outbreak in Sydney, David Warner and Sean Abbott had flown to Melbourne early before the state boundary closures and will now join the team ahead of the 3rd Test, which is set to take place at the Sydney Cricket Ground from 7th January.
