BBL 2020-21: Brisbane Heat’s Chris Lynn and Dan Lawrence sanctioned after violation of COVID-19 protocol

A day after Dan Lawrence and Chris Lynn played the BBL 2020-21 game between Brisbane Heat and Sydney Thunder while keeping physical distance from the rest of the players, the duo were sanctioned for violating COVID-19 protocols.

With the completion of the investigation into the breach, Brisbane Heat and its players, namely Dan Lawrence and Chris Lynn were punished under the Cricket Australia Code of Conduct.

Although Cricket Australia (CA) fined all the parties for the violations of the COVID-19 bubble, the decision not to suspend Dan Lawrence and Chris Lynn was taken. Brisbane Heat was fined $50,000, with $20,000 suspended for the remaining of the season. The team has been found guilty of breaching the COVID-19 Directive for State Associations and W/BBL Teams, section 1, 3, 4 and 9.

On the other hand, Dan Lawrence and Chris Lynn have both issued a report and served a notice under the Cricket Australia Code of Conduct, section 2.23. They have been fined $10,000 each as a result of the violations, with $4,000 suspended for the remainder of the BBL 2020-21 season. Both Dan Lawrence and Chris Lynn have accepted the punishment dished out to them, according to the statement.
