Lionel Messi joined the world in mourning the untimely death of Diego Maradona on Wednesday by calling him “eternal”.
The 60-year-old Diego Maradona, considered the greatest football star of all time alongside Pele of Brazil, passed away following a cardiac arrest, 2 weeks after undergoing a brain surgery to remove a blood clot. 2 weeks after he was discharged from a hospital in Buenos Aires following the brain surgery, he died.
Lionel Messi, who played in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa under Diego Maradona managership, described the death of his illustrious predecessor as “sad for the beautiful game”.
The modern-day genius posted on his Instagram, “A very sad day for all Argentines and football. leaves us but he doesn’t leave, because Diego is eternal, I took the cute moments he lived with him and wanted to take the opportunity to send condolences to all his family and friends. RIP.”
