Shahid Afrifdi, Pakistan's all-rounder, missed his flight to Sri Lanka on Monday and will be unavailable for at least the first two games of his Galle Gladiators team in the inaugural Lanka Premier League (LPL).
The former Pakistan captain posted on his Twitter and explained that he missed his morning flight to Colombo, but there is nothing to worry as he will be arriving soon to participate in the LPL for Galle Gladiators, and he is looking forward to join his teammates.
This incident added to the tournament organisers' agony following a spate of heavyweight pullouts of the tournament.
On 27th November, Galle Gladiators will play their 1st game against Jaffna Stallions, a day after the inaugural season opener between Colombo Kings and Kandy Tuskers.
On 28th and 30th November, Galle Gladiators will play their 2nd and 3rd games respectively.
After Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed and Sri Lanka pacer Lasith Malinga made themselves unavailable due to national commitments and lack of preparation respectively, Shahid Afridi was appointed as the captain of Galle Gladiators.
Vice captain Bhanuka Rajapaksa will lead the Galle Gladiators in the first few games in the absence of Shahid Afridi.
