Ravi Shastri supported Captain Virat Kohli on his decision to return home for his first child’s birth.

He told the media in an interaction that it's a once-in-a-lifetime moment and he is with him.

He added that if there was no compelling reason, Kohli would not be the one to miss a match. But for this bloody quarantine he would have returned for the final Test.

Ravi Shastri said that Virat Kohli was the only Indian captain to have overseen victories at home and away from home.

He further explained that it's not easy because Australia's quarantine process is active and very difficult. It would be tough for anyone to go through another 14 days of isolation. He has to tell their fans and critics that Virat Kohli is the only Asian captain, dead or alive, to have won a series at home and away from home against Australia. That is the trigger for the side to remember and shine.

The Test series starts on 17th December, and on 15th January 15 2021, the 4th test will begin.
