Toronto-Durriya Shabbir (Durriya Shabbir) has been appointed as the Canadian Women's Cricket Coordinator. The governing body of Canadian cricket said that Shabell will be responsible for all aspects of developing women's cricket in Canada.

The governing body of Canadian cricket said that Shabell will be responsible for all aspects of developing women's cricket in Canada. Her appointment runs through the next annual meeting of the Canadian Cricket Council scheduled to be held in May 2021.

Shabbir was born in Madras, India, and later represented Canada as a right-handed mid-speed bowler and mid-range batsman. In the 2013 ICC World Women’s Top 20 Qualifying Tournament, she played a key role in the Canadian Qualifying Tournament and won 153 rounds in the ICC Americas Qualifying Tournament.

After retiring from international competitions, the Toronto resident continued to play domestically in the Scarborough Cricket Association's Women's League. As an administrator, she organized the first women's team in Ontario.

Durriya also helped create the 2018 Canada Day Women's Football Championship and served as the manager of the Canadian women's team in the 2019 ICC America's Cup.
