Argentina needed penalties to beat Colombia in the Copa America 2021 semi-final earlier today.

After a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes between the two teams, La Albiceleste prevailed 3-2 on penalties.

Emiliano Martinez, the Argentine goalie, was the team's hero, saving three penalties to prevent Colombia from reaching the final.

Despite the 1-1 finish, the game was a thriller, as Argentina seized the lead early through Lautaro Martinez. Messi did a great job shielding the ball and passing it to Martinez, who scored from close range.

Colombia didn't take long to get into the game, and had it not been for the woodwork, and they could have been level before halftime. Luiz Diaz equalized in the 61st minute by poking home from an almost impossible angle to beat Martinez.

Emiliano Martinez, a former Arsenal goalkeeper, not only got under the skin of the Colombian players while they took their penalties, but he also guessed correctly three times.

Martinez saved goals from Davinson Sanchez, Yerry Mina, and Edwin Cardona to match Brazil on Sunday.

The match against Brazil has been highly anticipated, as the two teams have progressed through their groups and knockout games to set up a thrilling final.

In the 2019 Copa America semi-final, the two teams met, with Brazil emerging victorious. Lionel Messi and his teammates will be hoping to revenge that loss, with the tiny attacker still searching for his first international trophy with La Albiceleste.
