Argentine football legend Diego Maradona’s autopsy shows no illegal drugs or alcohol

An autopsy released on Wednesday shows that in the days prior to Argentine football star Diego Maradona’s death, he did not consume alcohol or illegal drugs.

Diego Maradona, who died at the age of 60 in November, had taken 7 different medicines to treat anxiety, depression and other illnesses, but a judicial official told the media that there was no presence of illegal drugs.

The autopsy, which was based on samples of blood and urine and published by the Buenos Aires Scientific Police, pointed out that Diego Maradona had heart, kidney and lung problems.

Investigators are looking at different aspects of his death that have rocked Argentina and the wider world of football and have not ruled out wrongful death.

Maradona's daughter Gianinna said the autopsy revealed "a result compatible with cirrhosis of the liver." in an angry broadside at her dad's critics.
