Only 240 Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) online lottery winners for the allocation of apartments under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana paid the 10% advance needed for the purchase of flats by the deadline of 23 November.

During the online draw carried out in October by the civic administration, as many as 2,918 individuals qualified. There were over 20,000 applications for the lottery received by the PMC.

A PMC official said 1,500 recipients had received challans from their office, but the balance was not yet transferred. The Civic Administration sent letters and instructed the winners to make the payment. We told everyone on the waiting list that they should apply for the houses. If the winners have not finished the procedure by the end of Monday, they would be allocated the units, the official said.

In five projects for the downtown poor in areas such as Wadgaon, Kharadi and Hadapsar, the PMC carried out a lottery for the allocation of houses.
