Betway has signed a three-year sponsorship deal with Hertha Berlin, a German Bundesliga side, beginning in 2020-21.
Betway will appear on the pitch side LED advertising boards at the club's Olympiastadion, as well as on the Hertha app and website and social media posts as the official sports betting partner for the club.
The club's marketing firm Sportfive brokered the contract.
Based on established relationships between the brand and German football clubs, the new agreement highlights the importance of the German market for its betting activity.
Betway's chief executive Anthony Werkman said the company looked forward to raising brand awareness among German fans thanks to its affiliation with clubs in Germany's top two divisions. Betway has seized a rare opportunity to partner with Hertha BSC, a club steeped in tradition.
Betway has since the 2017-18 season is the official betting partner for top-flight club Werder Bremen. It previously supported Hannover 96, Düsseldorf Fortuna, Berlin Union, St Pauli, and Dynamo Dresden. Rival operator Bwin has taken up the role of betting partner at Union Berlin, St Pauli and Dynamo Dresden.
