Betway Channel Islands Sports Awards put a year on hold

Betway increases live cricket tv

There will be no Betway Channel Islands Sports Awards this year, as confirmed by ITV Channel Television.

It follows the significant disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic to the local, national, and international sports calendars.

It is deeply disappointing to have to make this call, but with this year's lack of professional sport and the current limitations on public events, ITV has made this year's tough decision to cancel the awards.

Since its inception in 2003, the game, the most prestigious in insular sport, has been broadcast live on ITV Channel TV every year.

It is expected to return in January 2022, when the successor to Guernsey footballer Maya Le Tissier-who was appointed Betway CI Sports Personality of the Year 2019-will be crowned by popular vote at Beau Sejour in Guernsey.

The event is a perfect way to highlight sport within the Channel Islands. Still, this year it feels best to press the pause button and return to Beau Sejour in January 2022, after which Betway all hope will be an incredible year for sport, including, of course, the scheduled NatWest International Island Games in July of next year.
